We like to put books on tape at our house. We even add music in the background and a little bell to tell the kids when to turn the page. Some of the books I record on my own so as to do a real professional job, but the best ones really are the ones with the kids helping me read. Oh, and when Taylor is available to help he's great at any needed sound effects. :)
Well, my mom and dad were visiting in June and saw how much the kids liked their books on tape. Being the cute family that they are they made some on their own for family night and sent them to us. My little sister Allie even got in on it. They added music just like we do, and they each played different characters in the story. Dad played the Gingerbread Man, and it is hilarious! The kids love to hear Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Allie reading just for them.
Fabulous gift idea for any long distance grandparent, aunt, uncle, etc., and a great way to get kiddos excited about reading. Kellen and I are working on our Dr. Seuss books, putting them to jazzy music. Kellen loves hearing himself read on the recorder.

I love love love this idea! Brad & I will have to do this. My mom has a tape of my oldest sister telling the story of the three little pigs when she was 3 yrs old. They made the tape for my dad before he left on a road trip. It's darling. Those will be such fun treasures for your family. We are so going to copy you!
